Subject: Re: OT: (or not?) What is the best PHR Personal Health Record service?
That's actually rather cool that someone started diy to move off the
commercial platforms, and actually seems reasonably mature. I noticed
their "backups and high-availability" noticeably absent an entry though.

Sad part is to Joe's dilemma is likely every system's schema is
proprietary, and not in any exchangeable format. I could be mistaken
here, as .gov threw all kinds of money at them to go EMR - I'd love to
think there was some kind of discussion of format interop set as a
condition, but I doubt it. Where's the profit in that? You'd likely
still get a flippin' printout vs. a thumbdrive file to plug in to
someone else.

As said, it's pulling teeth to get the info out of hospitals or doctors,
and generally I've just had doctors "start over" when I have moved or
changed pcp's vs. that. As I get older and health problems start,
having that data to model over the past 20 years would likely be nice.
You'd be lucky to get 10yr out of somewhere, and never get to enter it
all to be somewhere useful.

If you were healthy, you wouldn't be a good return customer.
