The problem could have more than one cause. First make sure there isn't
any problem with what you're plugging the speakers into. Get a pair of
headphones and try them in something else to make sure they work. Once
you've verified they work, plug them in all the way into whatever you
plugged the speakers into. If they work, the problem is with the
speakers. If the problem is the speakers, it's most likely the wire
between the speakers and the plug. If the headphones give you the same
problem the speakers did, the problem is probably the jack itself.
Also check the computer you're plugging the speakers into and make sure
the balance control is in the center.
