The few times I've tried to use GTalk for a video chat, it didn't work
at all. The video was choppy, froze constantly, and ended up just
dropping the call. Skype seemed to work better for me, but it still
wasn't stellar. That said, I had two follow-on questions from this:

I know Google was looking to consolidate things at some point, but I
thought GTalk was still separate from G+. You seem to use both
interchangeably. Is that still the case, or have they gone through with
setting up G+ accounts for all users? Do you need to have a G+ account
in order to use the video chat features of GTalk?

What client for Linux, if any, are you using to access the video chat
feature?
