Sphinx SE Installation

Hello all,
I am installing Sphinx to plug into and index a MySQL table. The
documentation requires compilation of the plugin, but only references
Sphinx version 0.9.4, but the released version of Sphinx is 2.0.4. I
installed sphinx via RPM, is it still required to compile the MySQL
plugin? Does anyone have any experience doing this?
