I use Google voice in this manner.
the way ti works is you set up your cell number (aka they call it and
you enter a code to prove you "own" that line, then you enter a
numeric code into the handset and it routes your VM to Google voice.
then you set Google voice to send a text email or use the Google voice
app to transcribe your voice-mail. it also supplies a way to listen to
the recording and even highlights the words as it goes along... very
karaoke like
