external hard drive

As you all know my hard drive is no more and all of my spares are kaput as
well. I was thinking that instead of an internal hard drive I would get an
external one. Then, I could always have my computer with me:!) I have a
NetVista computer. Do any of you know if I will have a problem booting from
an external hard drive? When I initialy boot and press F-12 it goes into
boot media order and says that removable media is in the boot order so I
suppose it's all good. What do you think?
