does it really what OS anyone runs?

seriously, I run vinux (ubuntu 11.1) on a donated laptop (thanks to another plug member) and I also run VINUX on a desktop as a host for windows xp, openbsd, sun solaris os (intel based version) and OS X snow leopard. I use OS X for my email and browsing simply because voiceover works with those apps without additional setup. the windows installation for OCR and printing, openbsd as the firewall on the network and solaris for the oracle db. each has its uses and also has its faults. not everything available in linux will work with orca (in fact, a great many apps in other desktop manager environments just won't work at all). the same can be said for windows (and outside of using NVDA, its incredibly expensive to make windows accessible for the blind). openbsd and solaris can be accessed by ssh and are therefor very speech friendly, albeit only by remote). Vinux has been a lifesaver on the laptop as a low power usage OS. with it, I can browse the net without having to be tied to my desk and it has been handy while waiting at the local doctors offices (playing mp3 audiobooks, note taking and other useful tasks). both OS X and Linux have one thing going for them: braille support included). that by itself makes both of those OS'es more useful than windows (though windows does offer support for the widest range of printers around).

so, so far as what OS is the best... That really depends on your needs, now doesn't it?
