Subject: OT: Moving from Cox Consumer to Cox Business Internet and Phone

Hi,

I'm thinking of moving from consumer cable to business cable with Cox.

Currently I have an Internet connection that is shared with up to 349 others with a max of up to 20mb/sec down.  Not sure what up is, might be 2mb/sec. I have a consumer phone line and distinct ringing for my fax.  It comes with a dynamic IP.  Lease might be almost forever though.

I can move to the basic business plan with a static IP, free long distance vs. 5 cents a minute, and a number of other features that I would have to pay extra for on the consumer line.

Cox says the "modem" is a docsis 3.0 and is free.  Installation is free also.  A tech will have to come to my house to switch me from consumer to business.

Cox also says they will give me a credit on my first bill of $201.00, that is the equivalent of 2 months of Internet and phone for free.  All I have to pay is the taxes, which they say will be the same as on my consumer plan.

The Internet connection is not shared with anyone else, and I would be getting 12m down and 2 up.  The TOS allows me to run a server or servers... to include a mail server.

This move will require a 36 month contract.

I was wondering if anyone is using the business Internet with Cox and if you have had any problems and if you are running a server without any real issues.

Any other insight is much welcome!

Thanks!
