welcome. To combine what the other two replies are telling you its to
decide what you want to do, and with the help of Google and some from
us when you get stuck just kind of jump in with both feet.

I learned a great deal running a gentoo install from stage 1, and they
are really well documented.

but there is no definitive read me and you know Linux source that i
have heard of. most of it is jumping in and breaking it looking at
what you broke and fixing it.
