I know specifically the big reason to update is flash. there are a
number of under the hood tweaks to improve battery life and clock
scaleing, and then a number of overall performance tweaks... but this
is mostly from personal experience more than anything.
and yes they did break the one touch root, but i know specifically in
the DroidX Motorola did this with intent to keep the phone
un-rootable.. (that lasted about 2 hours or so)
