I had a Cliq, the screen gave me all kinds of issues. Anyway, they rooted the Cliq, so loading a custom rom isn't hard, but I didn't keep track of where those are found these days.
I loved my G1 and am hesitant to buy a Nexus One because of radio issues I've read about. I use my Touch Pro2 with Android when i need to get away from WinMobile

2 choices...
- wait for the wireless carrier to release the update that comes from
the handset manufacturer. In the case of the Cliq, you are sort of
screwed for now.
- install a non-official ROM image
