re: 'social computing' . Its amazing how quickly any kind of useful
medium on the net becomes advertising real estate. Anyone remember
what the net was like 10 years ago? lots of happy helpful people who
would love to explain their research, interests, hobbies and pet
pictures to you. Now its non stop in your face buy my product or
youll die and never reproduce. I was once enthusiastic about the net
but lets just say I'm losing my religion. Despite the explosion of
information, I find myself reading the classics. And given recent
legislative trends, I expect the net of the near future to be no more
rewarding an experience than watching cable TV. -jmz
