it probably should be noted that there actually is a reason for this...
KDE 4 was a complete rewrite with QT4 from top to bottom and there are
still some packages which are incomplete and as Alan has noted, one of
those things that is still incomplete are the device drivers for Amarok
and also if I recall correctly, the kdepim stuff is still a bit
incomplete (both are progressing).
So while Alan has noted the ability to get device connection via the old
QT3 compatible libraries, it may cause some issues at the point where
KDE actually comes out with the KDE 4 version of Amarok with the ability
to sync with various devices.
Another option is to use non-kde stuff for sync'ing an iPod such as
gtkpod, rhythmbox, songbird or others.
