If it works except for the noise, there are several charities that will take it and pass it on to another user less concerned about how it sounds.
I know you can set it next to the charity donation bins in various places, or give it to Goodwill or the Salvation Army directly (usually at one of their thrift shops). That way you can even claim a donation for the value of the device.
If you think it's no longer safe or functioning, then you might check with someplace like Westech (they'll try to donate it if they take microwaves, call to be sure) or RMS (they'll scrap it for the metal) (see links below).
