Subject: Re: power outage
Speaking of rebooting embedded Linux systems, last fall I was returning from
a vacation and while passengers were boarding the plane the entertainment
systems on the back of the seats were rebooted. During POST one could see
that they were running Linux :-).
I took a few photos of the reboot and put them on Flickr under Creative
Commons licensing if anyone wants to reuse:

The entertainment systems had a ton of features and are similar to the
systems found on Jet Blue (including timeshifted cable/satellite programs)
and had some nice features like free recently released movies (I saw Dark
Knight and Hancock that night), music player w/ user managed playlists, and
active GPS maps. The kicker for me was a live camera on the nose of the
plane showing the action from two viewpoints (straight forward and towards
the ground) which was very nice for landing and takeoffs. The camera was
disabled for a short time around touch down and lift-off times but you got
to see the approaches and taxi.
thanks,
C.G.
