Norton GoBack was the problem, Wubi installed just fine after disabling
it. I will have to see what happens when I turn it back on.
I do get a red warning on my monitor when booting & shutting down:
Out Of Range
46 KHz
87 KHz
1280x1024
I help a lot of people use & troubleshoot windows software so I can't
quite give up on windows yet :-(
