Use gpartd and carve up the disk as desired. When you boot with XP,
install on desired partition. After XP is installed, get the pile of
Dell disks, and begin the driver installfest.
I have yet to see XP install on a Dell without the driver disk marathon.
Kudos to Dell for including every driver you need, but they really
should use hardware that Microsoft knows about so XP can just make it
work. Dell is not my favorite vendor.
Good luck.

The screen that should show network hardware is basically blank on xp. And once bsod came up when swapping back and forth on bootups. ran memtest v1.65 off 5.1.1 and one pass, good, no errors, so ram seems okay up to 500mb. 4gigs of ram.
