Well, the Kubuntu run from CD works well on the laptop. Has the
Atheros wireless driver built-in so I'm typing this on the CD run.
Konqueror does not like the standard Gmail interface so I had to go to
the HTML version.

I used Red Hat and then Fedora for years but left for OpenSUSE when
basic updates from Fedora kept breaking things. It felt too much on
the leading edge and I wanted to get more work done and less
tinkering.

I'll have to think about Fedora as a candidate for my transition but
this Kunbuntu looks nice so far.
