Phil,
Bring a bootable CD with you either the latest KNOPPIX, Ubunt or Fedora 7,
that should give you a feel for how compatible the laptop is. Anything that
uses the Intel chipset should work.
Or call me and I'll loan you my Dell Latitude for the week in exchange for
some swag from the show. :-)
