You're going to need to take your JPGs and have them made into a video slideshow of sorts to do what you're trying to do. I don't know of any Linux software that will do that off the top of my head.

How can I burn a dvd with a collection of jpg photos

I have K3b version 0.12.4-svn) but don't see that it has
an option to do this. I'd actually prefer to be able to
do it with a simple command line command, but if not that,
what other Linux program do I need?
