To all the people who responded with suggestions
and offers of personal help to get my unbootable
system back up running -- and there were several
who did so -- thank you one and all.
Special thanks to long-time former colleague
Dale Farnsworth who spent a good part of his
afternoon helping me out.
I'm up now, the original hardware is working,
but there is still a bit of flakiness that makes
me nervous. So I'll take it one day at a time.
