I've already booted off the only other bootable media I happen to have, which
is a SuSE 9.1 installation disk ... there's what's called a recovery boot that
goes to a root shell.

BTW, where can I get a Knoppix disk? Probably a good thing to have.

(I know, probably Knoppix.com ... I'm not one of those people who is always
booting and trying out distros. I don't have anything in the house more current
than SuSE 9.1. When I left MontaVista 14 months ago, I neglected to take
copies of the 9.2 disks with me, so I don't even have what I've been running.
I didn't even realize it until this afternoone.)

Ummm ... not sure if I have room, but maybe. My brand new Mac has 120GB,
my old iMac has an 80 system disk and 160GB sliced in half. Probably would
need to fill up the notebook.

That plan might work.
