Subject: Truecrypt encryption

I was pondering the idea of creating a new truecrypt volume on a flash drive.
Which is the better method, create a volume directly on a
disk/flashdrive/whatever or create a file on that disk/flashdrive/whatever ?

I could always move the file to another flash drive if I did it that way, but
how could I duplicate the entire volume if I used the whole flash disk? Could
I dd like any other drive?

Any experience with this?
