sound card not working

I know the computer sees it because when I would start the computer w/o a card
it would give me an error message, now it doesn't do that.

lspci reveals:
0000:00:09.0 Multimedia audio controller: Creative Labs SB Audigy LS

I don't know what else to post for you to help.
