I use a Dell Latitude D800 with Kubuntu and it works great. I would
suggest getting a model that has a wide user base, as driver issues,
etc. tend to be worked out collectively. Check on the Linux laptop
boards for compatibility issues. I can also generally vouch for
Toshiba. Remember that laptops have become very affordable so shop
around... you can get a decent piece of hardware for under $1000. jmz
