I don't have a Linux answer, but I think SnagIt from Techsmith coudl do that
in windows. Basicly you would set an area of the screen for capture and
tell it to make a movie. If the Shockwave animation is played in that area,
it should be captured as an avi movie.

I have not had SnagIt for long but am quite impressed with it so far. I
have not tried the movie part yet but saw it demonstrated quite nicely.
