I've finally got around to playing with my old laptop which has FC3
installed as the distro. I wanted to get started on updating software so
the faq on fedora's site said to do the following.
http://www.fedorafaq.org/#installsoftware
cd /etc
mv -f yum.conf yum.conf.bak
wget
http://www.fedorafaq.org/samples/yum.conf
that worked fine.
then it said to install the yum configuration:
rpm -Uvh
http://www.fedorafaq.org/yum
http://rpm.livna.org/livna-release-5.rpm
this resulted in an error:
Retrieving
http://www.fedorafaq.org/yum
Retrieving
http://rpm.livna.org/livana-release-5.rpm
error: skipping
http://rpm.livna.org/livana-release-5.rpm - transfer
failed - Unknown or unexpected error
Any thoughts on how I should go about updating my software for this old
distro? I guess I could download the latest version and reinstall but
this computer runs fine with FC3. Heck I don't even really ~have~ to
update the software, I just want to do something with it to get back
into practice.
