YMMV, but when I last talked to them they wanted to walk me through
something (obviously windows) and I told them I wasn't using Windows.
They didn't miss a beat and instead talked about the settings without
trying to walk me through anything. Worked fine for me.

They mailed me a DSL modem, and it arrived in a couple of days. It's all
ethernet and dhcp after that.

If you keep up to date you should be okay. If you're running a home
network it may be worth it to set up a firewall box. Doesn't need to be
dedicated.
