The configs come with a Makefile, so you can "make sendmail.cf" and
other good stuff. The top of the Makefile contains the basic command
line for building by hand (using m4, without make).
Also, in /usr/share/sendmail there is README, README.milter, and TUNING.
For all sendmail's faults, they do have lots of documentation, example
configs, and whatnot.
