Like I said, there's DarwinPorts, Fink, and probably one or two
others. These are great for getting ported Linux apps, but for the
vast majority of Mac software, a trip to the program's website is the
only way to get it. Plus, updates are left to either the user, or
program-specific update checks (barring the Apple software itself).
