Ok good news. I did a complete install and got the error again. yum install php-mysql and now error gone. Had done that install earlier hummmmm.
Only diff is the addition of the extensions.ini file. I wonder if that could have made the install configure diff?
Ok I still get a blank page however I can view source and ther is a frameset there.
Seems the content is missing......hmmmmm
Any Ideas? Help much appreciated.

and restarted httpd.

Does this mean you gave up there?
Follow advice of other mail about phpinfo(). Find out where your
extensions.ini should be.
Try creating it with the line I suggest and restarting httpd and testing.
