What is the full mount command you used? Try:
# umount /mnt/hda3
# mount -t ext3 /dev/hda3 /mnt/hda3

If that doesn't work, try adding the "-o rw" option:
# umount /mnt/hda3
# mount -t ext3 -o rw /dev/hda3 /mnt/hda3
