I haven't had any drive failure experience (knock wood), but definitely,
turn it on! Someone (besides me, who does not know how) might write up a
brief 'how-to' to check various aspects of s.m.a.r.t. (I know how to
check if it's running, but that's it). Anyone want to chime in?
