I booted into failsafe,... ok, I'll do it again while I type this:
logged in as root
start yast2
select Hardware > Graphics
Alt+p for reprobe does nothing so I go back to YaST Control Center and
select Misc > Autoinstallation
This opens another menu where I select Hardware and tab to "Graphics
Card and Monitor"
Type in Alt+e for Configure
Select "Configure the X Window System" and tab down to fill in 24-bit
and 1280x1024
Display manager is KDM so I just leave it that way
Window Manage is KDE
Next
"Configure Monitor"
Vendor as LCD and Model as 1280x1024@60Hz
Horizontal frequency according to
http://stores.tomshardware.com/rating_getprodrev.php/product_id=4705837/id_type=M//
is 30-81 and Vertical is 56-75
I do a "Save As" to /var/lib/autoinstall/repository and name it
myveryowngraphicsconfig
"Collecting Configuration data" ... Warning: An error occured while
saving the file... ?
I go to Control Center, select Hardware > Graphics CArd &... and it
reads the old monitor and frequencies. ???
I guess I will try "Change"... same old
I don't seem to know how to navigate through the menus to get it to
accept my changes. :-(
I'll just leave it like that until I hear from someone.
