I use Mozilla on my WinXP machine. I run adaware every month or so. It
always catches something, cookies mostly. I then block cookies from
those sites (using mozilla's cookie manager). The number of items
adaware finds gets smaller, and smaller...

As for virus scanning, I update frequently, run constantly in the
background (checking every file that gets accessed), full system scan
every week. The only virus's I've ever caught came in as e-mail
attachments. Never once been infected (knock-on-wood).

Incedentally, I use Norton Antivirus (Symantec product).

I also got a spam e-mail once that was advertising Norton's Spam
blocking stuff. Talk about mixed messages...
