The article did touch on a serious issue: What about mortgage calculations
past 35 years from today? The point is: What about prediction today for the
limitations of tomorrow?
The fix, we all know, will occur within the next 3 years. And it's not like
you're limited by the 32 bit, or even 64 bit, architectures. It wouldn't be
difficult to create the solution. The only real problem I see are embedded
devices using ROM-based OS's. Of course, will those small devices be around
in 30 years? And do they focus on prediction? Most small devices like such
are used for data gathering, not prediction.
The reality is this though: 2037 is going to be a very profitable year for the
computer industry...just like 1999 and 2000 were. Hell, I might even be there
to pick up some cash for a new 57 Thz server which slows down to 1Thz when it
runs Windows Xtreme! (And we'll all still be saying shit like "I remember the
2.4 kernel in Linux..it was so stable and fast!!!")
