DVD Movies on Ubunto

I'm trying to play a DVD on Ubunto. The Totem player starts
automatically, then up pops an error window stating that "Totem could
not play 'dvd://'." (cannot open file "dvd://")

Can someone point me in a direction toward getting it to work?

I'm happy (and sad) to say that this is the first problem I've come 
across with Ubunto.
