Um I run gentoo as well... But I have always used Nvidia based cards
as they work better with linux... what errors are you getting if any?
What is the exacts on the Video Card. Did you try lsmod to see if the
module is loaded? Let me know and I might be able to help you out... I
currently am running one box with a Nvidia GeForce 6800 Ultra and one
with a nvidia mx 440 both working well.
