Evolution question

Hello all:
I'm trying to switch from KMail to Evolution 1.4.6.
I configured it with all the same POP and SMTP server settings from KMail.
I have no firewall on the machine in question (it connects to a gateway which
runs a filewall.)
Email receiving works fine, but I encounter the following error when sending:

Error while performing operation:
DATA termination response error: Requested action not taken: mailbox
unavailable

The explanations I've found via Google haven't helped me. Any ideas what
might be wrong?
