Done, as in

bla.bla.b.la Mepisbox #entered in /etc/hosts on Mandrake PC.
Just to verify, I should be using the IP listed as the internet address,

Done- needed to install NFS RPMS, but did so. Your listed script does
start NFS when invoked by root.

Done, et voila, nothing. Except that I do now have a /home/mandrake
directory on my Mepisbox. Nothing is in it, however, and there is no
listed NFS mount in my /mnt directory either.
