Xp pro installation will require NTFS for the partition that you install onto,
and will not touch the other partitions. I'd highly suggest a fresh install as
opposed to any sort of upgrade. I've seen XP able to install onto a FAT32
partition before, but Microsoft forces partitions of any large size to be
formatted in NTFS. If you have a rather small partition like 2GB you may be
able to use it. I do not have the correct number in memory.

Xp doesnt touch anything in the installation besides the partition you tell it
to install onto.

You can compile NTFS support into the kernel, it is experimental. You can read
but not write well or at all. Debian makes it easy that you can select it
during installation.

Not that I'm aware of. Someone probally wrote a driver for this though.
