Thanks (to all) for all the replies. Much to thinks about!
Some random thoughts addressed to all... I was (and am) kind of shying away
from pulling the RH 7.1 back off the shelf - being EOL.
All things being equal I would rather start with a distribution that's
current and a bit more "advanced" since that will be less likely to restrict
things later on... I'm sure I'll be pulling my hair out over that decision
at some point in the early going :-)
I've thought about doing my on hosting. I'm reluctant to name any names
(might be bad form) but GoDaddy is hosting it right now. On the whole I
don't have any terrible complaints - going from 7.99 a month to 9.99 a month
will get me the functionality with them hosting that I want to start getting
into. I'm willing to jump into the deep end to some extent (more advanced
distro)... but going so far as hanging a system out there with some of the
security concerns... I'll let someone else sweat that part (especially at
this point). Plus the site is starting to get a little traffic and having it
hosted (in theory) saves me the headaches associated with mundane stuff like
sudden hardware failures.
Anyway - thanks again to all
