Subject: RE: x over putty x forwarding over ssh and the like.
I hope to interact through X on my M$ xp box.
I have an X server for win32 running.

My Linux box is in a rack and everything I do is CLI because I haven't
figured this out yet.

I was hoping for something simple like your previous posts about....

ssh -X computer

But no luck yet.

My XF86Config includes the following.

Section "InputDevice"
        Identifier "Mouse0"
        Driver "mouse"
        Option "Protocol" "PS/2"
        Option "Device" "/dev/psaux"
        Option "ZAxisMapping" "4 5"
        Option "Emulate3Buttons" "no"
EndSection

To have no device should I just change psaux to null?

Thanks Todd

How do you expect to interface with the X after you start it? (Or do you
just want it to show only?)

Anyways, in my experience, you should be able to start X even if it
doesn't see a keyboard or mouse. It has worked for me several times
before. (For mouse, just make sure the Pointer points to a device that
does exist.) Or maybe remove your X configuration's InputDevice sections.
