OT What is FSB and How is it used?

I see MOBO's with an advertised FSB (Front Side Bus - I think) speed (i.e. 266, 533, 800).

What does this mean, is the speed with which the processor (cpu) talks to the memory?

If so, which memory would you want for:

533,

800?
