I also don't want something older. BUT..
Slack 8 root floppy (color.gz) worked! BUT...
The command line I used at boot was:
ramdisk floppy=thinkpad root=/dev/fd0
The previous error about the "Please set the root= option" triggered that
thought. Now I think I should go try that with Slack 10 boot and root disks.
This I will now do.
