I am not saying anything in particular is wrong with such an old
kernel, if it is stripped down *or* secured *or* has had pathes
backported.
There have been a couple kernel vulnerabities since 2.4 came out and I
do not see what is so hard about :
$apt-get install kernel-image-2.4.16-686
(oldest kernel in the resposity stable)
