I was wrong. Upon boot this morning I noticed that it activated swap. There
were two lines: the first said 'Activating swap: #/dev/sda1' and the second
said the same thing without the hash (I had commented out the swap line but
after reviewing fstab noticed that an entry for sda1 had been added by the
computer. I then hashed that line but upon reboot the second hash had
disappeared.
