i did exactly what matt alexander suggested with two buffalo WB2-G54
routers over the weekend. buffalo uses WDS, a standard for bridging
two wireless access points.
Here's some tips for the configuration:
- Each router needs to have the other router's WMAC (wireless MAC)
address added to its WDS connection list
- Each router needs to use the same WEP key on the same channel.
- If you want to roam between networks with a laptop (or other
portable wireless device) you can set each router to have the same
SSID.
i think those were the most important things i learned while setting
it up. i also read that different routers impliment WDS in different
ways (even though its a standard) so different brands might not
necessarily work together (though i can't back that up as I was using
the two of the same type of router.
Good luck!
Jon
