The problem with what you want to do is that it not practical. All those
bad programs, by design, attempt to hide themselves from any attempt to
eradicate them. Their filenames are random or look like legitimate OS
components. Their registry entries are obfuscated along with the real
ones you don't want to delete. Symantic and the other virus protection
software vendors have large, full-time staffs paid lots of money to
attempt to keep up with the morphing, hiding and changing of all this
nasty stuff. And even then, they fail to keep up at times. An open, free
and Free remedy would have to do all that research and testing to keep up
with it all. Such a project could probably exist but why, when the real
solution is to not use a vulnerable system in the first place? Prevention
is so much easier than a cure!
My father has the perfect example of a less-vulnerable MS OS installation,
after spending $250+ on additional protection software. He doesn't want
to use an external firewall or change to a more secure OS, so he pays the
price to play securely in the arena he has chosen.
