Well,
I had konqueror open to a webpage (1)
that webpage gave the option of opening a java script IM window (flash) (2)
I started ogg123 in a non-GUI terminal <cntrl+alt+F1>
I wanted to talk with someone and so opened another IM window (3)
I then wanted to read the bio on this person and so opened another window (4)
I tried moving window 3 to the foreground but the portion of it that had been
covered by other windows were grayed out and I couldn't close the window so I
clicked a kill-x icon I had created some time ago. After I clicked window 3
to kill it windows 2 and 4 disappeared as well.
So after all this I think that running ogg123 didn't free enough resources and
that I should kill it and everything would be good. 'killall ogg123' wouldn't
kill the processes though. So I 'kill <psID>' (with the 3 switch, the 6
switch, the 9 switc, and then the 13 switch). None of those worked either.
As a last resort I restarted my computer (which killed the process) but the
window problem happened again. Then I saught advise from you all and went to
Starbucks.
Now that i have returned home and am again on this ol' box I can't seem to
repeat the error (i hacen't starte ogg123 this time). Can you think of anyway
to reduce used resources so i can have that many windows open AND run ogg123.
Maybe if I were to close the additional windows it would be enough (kmail and
konsole)
